RE: What electrical problem does this sound like to you?

The first thing to look for is the ground wiring, many problems are from faulty ground connections. Clean them and make sure the are clean and proper and from this point it will be a question on wiring or equipment. Let us kmow ! plusplus

RE: Maximum motorhome length in Canada

You will get the information on this site Transport Canada The expectation now is that a final federal regulation will be published in the Canada Gazette Part II in 2005 and mirrored shortly thereafter in provincial and territorial regulations. Vehicle Weights and Dimensions — The federal, provincial and territorial governments agreed to make three changes to the national standards for the weights and dimensions of trucks and buses. The country's transportation ministers endorsed these changes following a recommendation by the intergovernmental Task Force on Vehicle Weights and Dimensions Policy, which considered them at the request of industry stakeholders. Under the changes: the existing standard for the overall box length on a truck configured as an "A-train double-trailer" is increased to 20 metres, giving that configuration the same length as the "B-train" and "C-train" double-trailer configurations; for the second trailer in a "B-train double-trailer" truck configuration, a new standard will limit the placement of the kingpin to a maximum two metres from any point on the front of the trailer or its load, restricting the swing-out of the trailer during maneuvers; and recreational vehicles (i.e. motor homes) are shifted from the category covering "straight trucks" to the category covering "intercity buses," which increases their maximum allowable length from 12.5 to 14 metres. The new standards are targeted for implementation by individual provinces and territories on July 1, 2005. Canada's national standards are defined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Interprovincial Vehicle Weights and Dimensions.

RE: Nitrogen in TT tires

A bit of info ! To be effective the nitrogen must be at 95% pure in the tire. The (7) nitrogen molecules are bigger and will not escape the tire so easily. To fill a tire the cost should be from 0.00$ to 1.00$ max over 1$ it is a rip off. The advantage is a stable pressure in the tires for a longer period, cooler tires etc. If you need to top up the tires pressure you must use Nitrogen, normal compress air would eliminate the benefits. Not to many gas stations have nitrogen gas only in rare big tire shops. One tire touch on 32 Sq inch. (Average) of pavement. I would go with nitrogen but not to really sources available yet.

RE: average speed towing

Hi, The speed is most of the time the 58 to 65 Mph. or the speed limit indicated but never over 65. the tires on my TT are rated 65 MPH at 65 PSI, check the rating speed of your tires. This is with the TV/TT in top braking, tires, load, hitch setup conditions. As a driving instructor I say to the students, and I do it to... On the road, No reason to rush to die... This is a translation from french, may be it is not right but this is what I say to the adults trainee in big rigs. have a nice day,

RE: Canadians.

Hello all importers of goods from the USA, All items imported to Canada have a code that would tell the brokers what type and % of duty on that item, Free trade is only for good made 100% in the USA, so... Brokerage rates are not fixed price they depends of the firms or couriers and UPS is charging duty at the high price side. You can, your self before ordering ask the custom office of the rates of that good, and ask to be shipped inbound by a trucking Co. and do it your self, it is legal to do it and you will only pay for duty if applicable and taxes that are not negotiable. I've done it many times and you will find that the custom officers in the local offices will be very happy to help a citizen that take care of his goods. But do not hard ball or be rude some days they have load of work. Be friendly and they will help you a lots. plusplus

RE: Water Lines & Electrical

I know for copper wire but this is just a calculation to show the power lost with different sizes but same power... So this is for copper # 10, with .1019 Dia. 0.9989 Ohms per 1000 ft, 55 Maximum amps for chassis wiring, 15 Maximum amps for power transmission, 2050 Hz Maximum freqency for 100% skin depth for solid conductor copper With a copper wire #10 connected to a 120 volts 1 phase running a 75 feet line at 30 Amps you will have voltage drop of 4.621, voltage at load end of circuit 115.379, per Cent voltage drop will be 3.85%. plusplus

RE: Water Lines & Electrical

Just let me give you some numbers with tye info you gave.. With a copper wire #8 connected to a 120 volts 1 phase running a 75 feet line at 50 Amps you will have voltage drop of 4.843, voltage at load end of circuit 115.157, per Cent voltage drop will be 4.04%. With a copper wire #10 connected to a 120 volts 1 phase running a 75 feet line at 50 Amps you will have voltage drop of 7.702, voltage at load end of circuit 112.298, per Cent voltage drop will be 6.42%. So I don't know if this is the answer yoy wanted. plusplus

Hello, All pieces of electric equipment are made to work from a LOW to a HIGH max temp. But when not in use they can stand a lots of cold. I would leave the LCD in the TT and disconnected.:Z plusplus

RE: repacking wheel bearings

I have to agree with JJBIRISH, When wheel bearings are serviced, the old grease should first be removed and the bearings cleaned and inspected (the only way to know if the are good or not) before being repacked with fresh grease. Not only does regular cleaning and repacking replenish the lubricant supply, removal of old grease cleans the bearing surfaces of dirt, oil depleted grease, abrasives, moisture, Never mix lithium based multi-purpose grease. Bearing Buddies are made for boat trailers and not RV. And sealed bearings are not reliable at all, what you don't see, you don't know. Feeling the hubs during a trip would give you basics info about the brakes or bearings over heating. But it would be normal after a long down hill, the breaks will be warm and maybe hot but not overheating. So when and what, visual inspection for grease leaks at the end of the season and open inspection at the start of the season. If you can do it your self, if you can't a good RV maintenance guy will do the job. plusplus

RE: I need a solution?

Hi, If I can make small suggestion, would be to use EPOXY the type you mixes with an hardener and resin. Do not use the 5 minutes one use the semi-industrial one. Or I've been using GOOP the RV type or the household one. It is an excellent product for those pipes to stop leaks and glue the treaded conncectors with cross treads. My only concern would be the temp it will set. In a fairly room temp it will do the job. Let it set for few days. Follow that link for Goop Let us know plusplus

RE: Longest lasting Battery to use in travel trailer

Hi, If you want to find the right battery I would suggest that your read this. Selecting the correct batteries is all about lifespan. The right batteries will last a lot longer, leaving you with more money for the finer things in life! The lifespan of a battery will vary considerably with how it is used, how it is maintained and charged, temperature, and other factors. We'll talk more about maximizing the lifespan of your batteries later, but for now, here are some typical expectations for batteries used in deep cycle service: Starting: 3-12 months Marine: 1-6 years Golf cart: 2-8 years Deep cycle (L-16 type etc.): 4-8 years AGM deep cycle: 4-10 years Gelled deep cycle: 2-5 years A lot of RVs come from the dealer with just a single Group 24 deep cycle or Marine battery installed. Many have room for additional batteries and some battery boxes will accommodate larger batteries. Now, folks... if you NEVER camp without electric hookups, you need worry little about battery selection... in fact, you might as well not bother reading any further. On the other hand, if you like to really get away from it all and consider hookups optional at best, then a good rule of thumb is to get as large a battery as will fit in your existing battery box... The more amp hours of capacity you can fit, the longer you can go between re-chargings. In the document you will have all the info. Have a nice reading. plusplus

RE: 12 Volt lights fluctuating dim and bright

The probability of finding the trouble on a RV will cost few hours of work, but do we have to be equipped like the NASA... 12 Volts or 110 Volts , to be sure we could have a 110 volts meter to see what and how it is coming in with an AMP gauge, Volt gauge, Watt gauge, and a frequency gauge and on the 12 volts DC side the almost the same gauges. We, most of us have only one small battery check gauge with Full to empty reading, not much to see !! but just a small hand held meter that read AC and DC volts would do the job. You will be able to see the AC fluctuation of the 110 volts (100 - 130 at 60 Hz)and the 12 volts DC 0 to 15 volts. (7$ to 500$) This way you can see where is the fluctuation is coming from. This is a KISS principal action... Have a nice day, plusplus ( The one that try to keep up with you in english)
